CONSTRUCTION OF NEW GISENYI HOSPITAL TO COST €32M IN RWANDA
The planned construction of a new Gisenyi hospital in Rwanda is set to cost Rwf38 Billion. The project became necessary following the eruption of Nyiragongo volcano in May last year in Rubavu District.
Officials from Rubavu District are seriously considering moving the hospital to a new location just to avoid any future challenges as the hospital is vital for the district.
Currently, the hopsital has the capacity of hosting not more than 300 people. This is a major problem coupled with the July 2021 government report on the earthquakes saying that the relocation of Gisenyi District Hospital was a “top priority.”
Speaking to the media, Mayor of Rubavu District, Ildephonse Kambogo said “Construction of a new hospital will be completed by 2024. He further stated that the new hospital will be built in Rugerero Sector, which is about kilometres from Rubavu town.
